What do you do for a living?
I specialize in boating safety education and outreach.
Why did you want to do a boudoir session?
I have been working really hard on my self-image, self-confidence, and all-around self-care this last year, which has been a lot of work mentally and physically, but it has been life changing and so rewarding. I thought doing a boudoir session would be the cherry on top of all the hard work I have put in to prove to myself that I am worth it. It’s also something I wanted to give to my husband as a way of thanking him for always supporting and loving me no matter how I saw myself.
What made you choose Wallflower?
I did a general search of boudoir photographers in the Wichita area, and I was just really drawn to what the Wallflower website presented along with Christina’s story. The photos on there were beautiful and her previous customer’s experiences sounded exactly like what I was looking to experience as well.
Were you nervous at all to do your shoot?
I was so nervous, but in an excited way! My nerves went away while my makeup and hair were being done and I got more comfortable in my surroundings.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
It was so fun to get pampered a little bit and be the center of attention for a while (something that doesn’t happen very often these day with young children). The way Christina directed me into poses and how positive she was the whole time made me feel so confident in what I was doing. You literally don’t have time for self-doubt and that was so nice to experience.
What would you tell a friend if they were thinking about doing a boudoir session?
The hardest part is just pulling the trigger and booking the session. After that it’s a whirlwind of excitement! It’s an incredible and thrilling experience from start to finish and it’s an experience I will never forget! I don’t know if I’ve ever been so proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone to do something like this and I have no doubt anyone who is thinking about doing a boudoir session would come out feeling the exact same way.
What was it like to see your photos?
MIND BLOWING. I think I was more nervous to see the final photos than I was to actually do the shoot, but once those pictures popped up on my screen all of my anxiety washed away and it turned into pure joy and excitement. I could not believe how they turned out. I have never had a chance to see myself in that way and it was amazing. The thing that I love about them is that they are incredibly beautiful and also still look like ME and not some weird doctored up version of me. The photos that were chosen showed a wonderful range of outfits, poses, and facial expressions and I seriously wouldn’t change a thing about them!
Was everything what you expected it to be when you first got in touch?
Yes! When I originally reached out to inquire about possibly scheduling a session at some point, I was still kind of on the fence about the whole thing, but the response I got from Christina was so warm and informative that that was all I needed to give me that push into actually putting something on the calendar!
Do you see yourself differently after having your session?
Definitely. It’s an amazing thing to be given the opportunity to step back and truly see yourself stripped down (literally!) and be proud and confident at what you see. I will cherish these photos forever and I can’t wait to confidently share them with my loved ones.
Anything else you’d like to throw out there?
This was an experience of a lifetime and I’m so thankful that Christina was the one who I chose to beautifully direct me through it!
