1. Why did you want to do a boudoir session?
I initially wanted to do a boudoir session to surprise my husband for our 5th anniversary, and because I’m turning 30, so it seemed like a good time to do one! I also wanted to do something that would force me to take some time out for myself. Like many people, it’s not unusual for me work 60+ hours a week, and I often take on additional roles and responsibilities as well, depending on what time of year it is. I pride myself on being a strong, independent woman who can handle anything and everything (don’t we all think we’re Superwoman?!), but this past spring was particularly brutal, and I finished the school year exhausted and emotionally spent. I was looking for a way to get back in touch with myself; to remind myself that it’s ok to be and to feel feminine, and it’s definitely ok to block out a day on the calendar for yourself every now and then!
2. What made you choose Wallflower?
My sister had booked a session with Christina about a year ago, and told me about how awesome she was (which I completely agree with)! Knowing and trusting my sister made all the difference-I didn’t even consider using another photographer once I made the decision to set up a session.
3. Were you nervous at all to do your shoot?
I think I was more nervous for my initial meeting than I was for the photo shoot itself! I still wasn’t completely convinced that I wanted to do this, but after spending about 5 minutes with Christina at the consultation, I felt completely comfortable. There were a few nerves when I first showed up for the shoot, but they went away really quickly once things got rolling.
4. What was your favorite part of the experience?
I’d have to say that my favorite part of the experience was the day of the shoot. It was so much fun to have my hair and makeup done (I’d never had my makeup professionally done before-Kayla is amazing!), and to feel so pampered and glamorous. All of the sets were a blast too-I really felt like a supermodel by the time the session was done!
5. What would you tell a friend if they were thinking about doing a boudoir session?
I would totally tell her to go for it-you won’t regret it!
6. What was it like to see your photos?
I teared up-I couldn’t believe that I was the woman in those pictures. I don’t think of myself as being particularly sexy, but staring back at me in the pictures was a gorgeous, confident woman. I think all of the photos capture different parts of my personality, and it was so cool to see that unfold throughout the different sets.
7. Was everything what you expected it to be when you first got in touch?
Absolutely-the Wallflower website does a great job of describing how to go about setting up a session and answering questions, plus Christina was very up front and honest about everything. I didn’t feel like there were any surprises, and I knew exactly what to expect throughout the whole process.
8. Do you see yourself differently after having your session?
I think so-I need to learn to be a little kinder to myself and to cut myself some slack every now and then, and this experience was definitely a positive step forward for me. My husband always makes the comment that he wishes I could see what he sees, and I think I now have a better idea of what he means!
9. Anything else you’d like to throw out there?
I can’t wait to see my husband’s face when I surprise him with the picture album on our anniversary! 🙂
