What do you do for a living?
I am a contract administrator for a construction company.
Why did you want to do a boudoir session?
I came up with the idea as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. He travels frequently for work, and I thought this would be a fun, unique gift.
What made you choose Wallflower?
I googled “boudoir photos Wichita” and Wallflower was one of the results. I checked out the Facebook page, and the website and was blown away by the images and the reviews. When I met with Christina at the studio for my consultation, I knew there was no way I could NOT do a shoot with her. I couldn’t wait for the day of the shoot!
Were you nervous at all to do your shoot?
Yes and no. Anyone who knows me at all knows that I really don’t like to have my picture taken – very rarely do I feel like happy with how I look in the image afterwards. Deciding to do this photo shoot was a real leap of faith for me, and way far outside of my comfort zone. However, Christina immediately put me at ease. I never thought I would have SO MUCH FUN – the time in the studio flew by.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
Can I say “all of it??” I had never had my hair or makeup done professionally before, so even getting that movie star/model treatment was exciting for me. Christina never made me feel shy or uncomfortable or anything other than fantastic during any of our interactions, but I really feel like in so many ways the photo shoot brought me out of my shell. I really felt like a bombshell, and any time I start to not feel fabulous…I look at my photos and remember how amazing I felt during those moments and am re-inspired and empowered.
What would you tell a friend if they were thinking about doing a boudoir session?
Do it. 100% do it. (But go to Wallflower!)
What was it like to see your photos?
In a word, amazing. I saw (and continue to see) myself through a new set of eyes. I really was speechless. I think, “Is that really me?” ran through my mind more than once.
Was everything what you expected it to be when you first got in touch?
Absolutely.
Do you see yourself differently after having your session?
Absolutely! For my entire adult life I have struggled with my body image, including an eating disorder in my early twenties. It’s only been in the last few years that I really feel as though I have come into my own, and learned to accept my body and feel good about my appearance. When I look at the woman in these photos, I see someone who is confident, sexy, smart, empowered. I see the type of woman I hope to inspire my daughter to be – a woman who is in control of her own destiny, not ashamed of her body, a woman who can be a mom, a lover, a career woman. A woman who is proud of the journey she’s traveled, and who is looking forward to enjoying everything that comes next.
Anything else you’d like to throw out there?
I am so pleased with the entire experience. I would love to do it again (and probably will)! The look on his face when he saw his gift was worth any hesitation I might have had when I first started considering it as a present. He loves that there are multiple looks, and that there are some pictures that he can “show off” to others while having others that he considers to be “just for him.” There is not a single image that I would be ashamed to have ANYONE see of me, ever. I’m proud of the woman in those photos…and I’m so pleased and proud that she’s me.
