Not gonna lie…I love being my husband’s muse. His year-end studio purchase last year was a set of custom hand-painted backdrops, and the second they arrived, he had me in front of the camera to check them out. The last couple of years have been pretty light on personal shoots for both of us, though, so I was feeling nervously out of practice. I 100% get what my clients feel when they’re coming in! Even though I’ve done this literally hundreds of times, I still get anxious before modeling for a shoot.

What if my poses don’t look right? What if my face does something stupid? I. Get. It. Because sometimes they won’t, and sometimes it will, and that’s part of the game.

But, here’s the thing. I HAVE done this hundreds of times on BOTH sides of the camera. Those nerves? My hubby likes to remind me that they’re just proof I give a damn. And when I’m the one holding the camera, I’ve got you in the perfect spot because I know how you feel AND I know how to make you look and feel amazing. It’s what I’ve done for eleven years!

So, we turned that shoot anxiety into something beautiful. How? Well, a big part of it for me is always keeping things simple. Don’t overthink it, don’t overdo it. Simplicity is beauty. That’s where we like to start.

Plus, I had to use my new thigh high socks! I had been eyeing them on Amazon forever and got a pair for Christmas this year <3

Truth time: there’s no simpler outfit than nothing at all!

The takeaway? If you’re feeling nervous before your shoot, that’s absolutely ok. It’s just proof you give a damn.
